Mens 2nd Team – Captains Season Review
Having won the league, it’s fair to say we’ve had a successful and enjoyable season. We started off very strong and showed great potential, so our target of winning the league seemed more than achievable.
I could tell straight away that I was working with a highly talented and ambitious group of boys. Their commitment and dedication throughout the season has been incredible, which proved crucial to our success. However, throughout the season (particularly towards the end) we suffered some important injuries, so the boys who were fit to play needed to provide whatever extra effort they had to overcome this challenge— which they did excellently.
I’ve loved working with every single one of the boys, however I feel the need to focus particularly on Daniel Cohen (captain) and Alan Lowe (coach). They were undeniably the architects of our success. Working with them made everything easier, as they demanded 100% from everyone and knew how to get the best out of the players.
Finally, I would like to thank the 2s for such an amazing season, as I hope for the same success next year.
To the leavers, good luck and thank you for everything you’ve done for the club.

We started this season with 2 main targets: to win 4B (and with it promotion into 3A) and to reach the semi final of the conference cup. It fills me with great pride to be looking back on the season and to be able to say we met both targets in what was a successful campaign.
We got the season off to a flyer with a 5-1 thumping over local rivals Dundee 2s in varsity followed by an emphatic 5-0 trouncing of our other tayside rivals Abertay 2s in the first league game of the season. We continued in the same vein with some great individual and team performances across the first semester which meant we would go into second semester top of the table and with a league cup quarter final to look forward to.
A draw with rivals for the title Aberdeen 3s meant the league was no longer in our hands but we continued to battle and beat the same team in the conference cup quarter final before being humbled by our 1st team in the semis.
It seemed that our season was over but we kept working hard and would not be written off. Results going our way meant that we had the opportunity to win the title in our last game of the season away to Aberdeen 4s.
Despite the best efforts of the Aberdeen climate, some shocking refereeing, an awful pitch and going 1-0 down, our passion, respect and excellence (and some support from the Aberdeen 3s boys who came to cheer us on) led us to a 4-1 victory to crown us Scottish BUCS 4B champions.
The boys worked tremendously hard all season, their commitment to the team was exemplary and wish to take this moment to thank every player and also our coach Alan Lowe for the part they played on this journey. We were up against it for large parts of the season with a seriously injury plagued squad but to come out of it with a league title just shows the resilience of the group.
To leavers Jed, Meaney and Seb thank you for your service to the 2s and to the club and good luck with your future endeavours.
I look forward to getting back in with the rest of the group, whenever that may be, as we seek to gain back to back promotions.
From myself and everyone involved in the club we would like to extend our best wishes to everyone in this time of uncertainty and hope you all remain happy and healthy.
