Congratulations to the Men’s 2nd team as they won Bucs Scottish Tier 4B yesterday following a 4-1 victory in Aberdeen against Aberdeen 4s. With the match being postponed the week before and with closest challengers (Aberdeen 3s) winning both games in between times the team were under a bit of pressure going into the game as only a win would secure them the title. Despite a poor club record in Aberdeen the team travelled in confident mood that they would get the job done and return to Bucs 3A at the first attempt.

Things did not get off to the best’s of starts as it was the home team that opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 15th minute. From there though the team showed alot of character and managed to turn the game on it’s head before half-time following a brace from star man Jimmy Thompson. With tails up the Saints went about the second half looking for another goal that would ease any nerves. They got just what they were looking for 20 minutes into the 2nd period thanks to a goal from Harrison Glassey. With a two goal cushion the team could breath abit easier but any lingering doubts soon vanished shortly after as American striker Christian Hermann Jr added a 4th goal 10 minutes from the end of the game.

Congratualtions to Captains Sonny Innes and Dan Cohen, Coach Alan Lowe and the whole squad for achieving what they set out to do at the start of the season. This season has had plenty of twists and turns but to come out with another league title win for the club, this groups 4th in the last 6 years, is a great achievement. The squad and staff can once again look forward to playing at tier 3 level next year.
